It's called life. Once you're dead, it'll remain the same.

A reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2006):

There is no perfect relationship. Life is motion and so are relationships. But not all motion has to be bad. You just have to learn to roll with the punches and enjoy the good things that are going on in the relationship right now. Okay, so things may have cooled down, but you may be more comfortable with each other. While you used to get butterflies in your stomach when you saw each other, you now have the comfort of knowing you have someone in your life that cares about you. Relationships take work. You have to make a conscious effort to be in love and do nice things for each other. It's all about ebb and flow. As long as there are no "red flags" (you know excessive behavior such physical, emotional or verbal abuse, alcohol or drug abuse) then you're relationship is probably evolving as relationships do. Look for the positive things you have going for the two of you. Look for new things to appreciate in your partner and celebrate them. Best of luck.
