I asked a girl out once, she seemed OK, she had said she was definitely single, and we agreed to a date, but I had to cancel it due to another event on the same day.I told a friend of mine (a very good one) the next day about this girl and he had told me that she was lying to me, and that she had a boyfriend already that she'd been with for 2 years, and that I'd been conned.Thank you for all your advice on the original question. However, apart from speed dating nights, where else would I meet girls in situations that I know for definite that they are single??Thanks, AP

Don't worry too much about it. Even if she had a boyfriend she was still single! Maybe she was looking. Perhaps she was going to tell you during the date that she's got a boyfriend. Perhaps she just thought it might be nice to go out with you.
Don't take this dating thing too seriously. Going out on a date is a way to get to know a person. It's a way to find out what kind of people are out there, and what they want from a date. Just treat it as a way to make new friends and learn a little about life. If there's a spark, you'll get a second date. If there isn't, you'll at least have met a new person, something which is never wasted.
