A female Indonesia age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My husband and his family are treating me very badly before. We are living separately for almost half year. Im now living with my family and my 18 months son. I have asked questions many times before and now im sure that i want to be dependent and start afresh. I guess aunts and uncles here can recognize who am i :) many thanks to you for your advices before this, it meant a lot for me. I just havent got the courage to take a step before. So sorry i keep asking questions and make you bored:(

I would try to be stronger for my son. I promise to myself i will give him beautiful life ahead.

Im not financially secure yet and my daily routines beside taking care of my son is helping my family business. Due to covid 19 pandemic, im not helping my family business anymore to avoid the crowd and just focus on my son and cooking and baking for my family which is my hobby. I have huge passion in cooking and im a self taught cook.

I really need to be independent financially but i dont know how. I come from comfortable class family, my parents support all my son and my needs and they are fine about it but i shouldnt be like this forever. I need to start earning money asap. Im too spoilt before, never got to work with people, never really earn money, only helping my parents business. I keep thinking what business can i start with my skills. Besides cooking, i like things related to fashion, beauty, and health.

I need some advice and ideas where should i start? Im a stay at home mom. I can learn anything as long as it is earning and safe for me. I hope there is chance for that in this pandemic situation. My country hasnt announced lockdown yet. But it will be good if the business can be run at home. I will be very grateful if you can tell your stories about how you start your business. Im living in asia and i guess its good for me to learn more about how people in other part of the world do. Thank you very much :)

A reader, anonymous, writes (18 April 2020):

You can get your inspiration by reading publications and online vlogs from small business owners. You should also take night classes, if you can find a local university that offers flex hours so you can also be able to care for your son.

Continue working for your family business; and maybe you can work something out for receiving a small salary. It is likely that you may inherit some portion of that business someday; so learning something about it, and how it is run, will also teach you how to start and run your own. You have the education sitting right there under your nose, so ask questions and learn.

Hi

I started my own business ten years ago, tending to people's feet. I'm a Foot Health Professional. I don't know if this would interest you, or if there are courses where you are. I'm in England and people from all the world came for the practical side of the course (near London). The theoretical side of the course can be done by distance learning and the practical side was only for two weeks in a clinic attached to the college.

I am very busy with almost 200 clients who I keep comfortable usually because they are old and cannot reach their own feet.

I love my job; interacting with elderly people in their own homes, making them comfortable, making them smile and after all these years, many are friends and people I love to see.

The money is pretty good too. I work about six hours a day and earn well. So this is something you could fit in around your child, working the number of hours that you want to. There are always people needing my service.

If you think you might be interested, come back to me on this forum and I can give you details of the college. The theoretical part of the course takes about a year via the post or internet.

BrownWolf agony auntHello OP,

My advice to you to further better yourself...

Get a job based on what you know. If you can get a job with your family after all this craziness, then do so.

Next...Go back to school part time. Upgrade your skills. This will give a better chance of a higher paying job.

Look at your family business. What do they need?? Do they need an accountant?? Study for that in school. Do they need someone to market their product better?? Study for that.

Going back to school may sound scary, but it can help a lot for the future.

Good Luck.
