A male reader, Royofthe Rovers United Kingdom +, writes (30 April 2007):

Royofthe Rovers agony auntInsecurity can stem from the fear of the unknown. Your past relationships can possibly lead to his paranoia of what you were like, what you did with your previous partners. Although this should have no real relevance to your present relationship, someone who is insecure in themselves and has a certain level of trust issues will find it hard not think about these things.

You need to reassure him of your devotion to him and at the same time he needs to learn to let go of the past and concentrate on the present.

This can be hard for him, but he needs to realise that everyone has a past, with some bad and good memories both of which he might feel insecure about.

This insecurity can lead to him resenting you for your past which is wrong, so this is why he needs to start to heal himself and focus on you in the present and put all his effort into your relationship.
