So my boyfriend said I wasn't considered pretty or beautiful but cute, and he said that he would prefer cute over anything else. I saw something on the internet about cute vs pretty vs beautiful and hot. I can't find it anywhere; can someone help me out so I can tell my boyfriend what the true difference is between the three of these? Thank you!

Cute - Not classically beautiful, average body and face, won't win any beauty pageants but something about her makes her nice looking. A girl worth getting to know as her personality could make her beautiful.

Pretty - Attractive face, average body, or average face and attractive body. A level below beautiful.

Beautiful - Attractive face and body, overall package is aesthetically pleasing. Is attractive in a sensual way.

Hot - Great body, great or average face, is attractive in a purely sexual way.

My girlfriend is all those things at different times to be honest. When I wake up next her after a night out and she has red bleary, tired eyes, makeup smeared all over the place and messy hair, she's cute. Day to day clothes and makeup she's very pretty. At certain times, when I catch a glimpse of her in a certain way, in a certain light, in certain situations I look at her and I'm blown away by how beautiful she is. At other times, such as when she's gotten all dressed up to go out for the night I think she's hot and see her in an animalistic sexual way.

When she smiles in certain ways I see her different ways too. In general she has a beautiful smile, but her mischievous one is very hot. Her faint smile while falling asleep or when I tell her I love her is very cute. Her smile when she's in a really smiley, happy mood is beautiful and her greeting smile when she's saying to hello to a friend is very pretty.

It varies really.

Just ask him what he thinks the differences are.

My high school boyfriend said the same thing to me, and his view of the differences in the words were unique to him and based off the people he knew and the words generally used to describe them.

For example: He hated anyone "hot" because he hated his sister, and people called her hot.

He called me cute all the time because I "acted cute" the way I behaved and the way I would giggle at things when amused. It had nothing to do with looks.

So just ask him and don't be upset. The key part of what your boyfriend said is that he PREFERS cute. He told you that you are his ideal woman. How can this be bad?

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. that means if his definition of the woman he loves is cute then cute is beautiful pretty all of the above. there may be a difference to some people but really its just a choice of words. if he says he prefers cute girls then he thnks your beautiful. he calls it how he sees it and you should take it with a smile.

Beautiful and pretty and kind of the same thing. They're just looking very attractive.

BUT when a girl looks CUTE, its a whole other thing ;)

cute is girls like Nina Dobrev or Kathryn prescott (Google them)

Girls that you just want to marry, kiss and cuddle for ever and ever because of how adorable they look/are ----THEY'RE cute

Hello, well I just checked and found lots of sites giving definitions. Cute is basically a word to describe a child, fluffy bunny ect and it seems to be quite an annoying word to use when describing someone. Pretty means an attractive face but not really the 'full package'. So that's me then as I'm often described as pretty. Beautiful is the best compliment apparently because if suggests the compliment giver feels you are perfect in every way. And no one wants to be hot! Apparently that means you are viewed as a piece of meat and only good for one night stands. I'm sort of relieved no one has ever called me hot now!

Hope that helps! But please don't be too harsh on your boyfriend because to me, cute would mean he looks at you, feels all squishy inside and thinks....Ahhhhhh!

Seems like asking him is the best idea because those words could mean totally different things to him than they do to people on this site

how about this? your boyfriend is an idiot. what kind of a fool tells his girlfriend she's not pretty nor beautiful??

that's a terrible thing to say!

to me, cute means you're almost child-like in appearance. most children are "cute." something pleasant to look at, but certainly not in a sexual way. or almost like a little, furry animal. like a koala bear. you just want to cuddle and squeeze it

"pretty" means you're very physically attractive. you have a lot of qualities that make you appealing to others, including being sexually attractive.

beautiful is being drop dead gorgeous, a knock out, a bombshell, etc. someone who is simply stunning. when this person walks in the room, every head turns to watch.

hot is just simply a sexual thing. you look at the person and they have a lot of sex appeal. you think sexual thoughts towards them.

i can't imagine telling my girlfriend she's not pretty nor beautiful. not unless i wanted to get my *** kicked.
