But he certainly shouldn't be bragging about it! Especially to his girlfriend. Jeez, you need to set him straight. That's just nasty!

reader, anonymous, writes (23 March 2008): One potential problem with a charity shag is that the guy (or woman if the other way around) may now think that the woman loves him. Of course, she doesn't and has no interest in having sex with him again. Now he may be more hurt than if she had never given him sex in the first place. If she is a caring woman then she may feel really bad that she inadvertainly led him on and just caused him more pain. So now he is more depressed and she feels guilty. Many years ago shortly after we started dating, my wife told me about doing something like this before she met me and then she felt really bad about it because he thought that she loved him. She hated that feeling of guilt and doesn't even remember telling me about it anymore. She probably tried to forget it. It doesn't sound like a good idea for either party, although the OP's boyfriend seems to have fond memories of it.

Whats special about this is the woman puts the mans needs above her own. Unusual because good looking women are usual only ever concerned with raising their own ego by sleeping with attractive men.

 I presume he means pity sex. Typically a friend who is otherwise not intrested offers sex to "help" out a friend.
This female friend is often way out of reach under normal circumstances, a beautiful woman who would never go for a guy like that, but does so because he is a good friend and reasons "why the hell not". An act of charity.
A lot of us geeks have experienced it. I fix their PC's or help with moving, in return some sex. I am not suprised he rates it highly.
Lets face it, if some female friend had sex with him out of pity then he would not have had much sex before or since, the rarity alone makes it special. That also is the downside, it re-enforces the guys idea that he can't get a gf and is unworthy of female attention.
If it goes on for longer it is "friends with benefits".
Is he a friend or a boyfriend? Because saying that to a your girlfriend means he has no social skills (hence the pity sex) as it is very insulting to you. You never say your ex was the best you ever had.

A charity shag is exactly what it sounds like. It is when a man or woman will sleep with someone of the opposite sex out of pity. They think that the person they are sleeping with will never get anyone to sleep with them so they do it out of charity. Any other questions I can try to answer just drop me a line.
