writes: i am trying to stop my periods by takin g the pill (progestogen only pill) but its not, is there anything else that i can do that will sztop it for a year or two because it hurts so much it it physically and mentally tires me out!

reader, anonymous, writes (10 March 2013): Implanon has stopped my period for the three years I've had it, that's how long it lasts before it expires....Might want to check it out, it's expensive if you have no insurance though and it doesn't work the same for everyone but I guess I was just fortunate......

reader, anonymous, writes (10 March 2013): I wouldn't take something to stop your periods...I don't think that's the healthiest option. Instead, focus on stopping the pain that comes with them. I start taking advil a day or two before I get my period (I can feel it coming) and continue to take 3 or 4 advil/day until it's over.

reader, anonymous, writes (10 March 2013): Well the contraceptive injection stopped mine for a couple of years, but you can only go on it for a short time (it can be dangerous if used for too long) and when they came back mine were as painful as before. Instead, I would recommend speaking to your doctor instead so you can get to the root of why they are so painful because they shouldn't be like that. It's important you do because there can be medical issues that cause this so it is better to find out early and get treatment if necessary.
