A female reader, anonymous, writes (3 December 2007):

i suppose saying "just be yourself" isnt the answer your looking for.

its hard on a first date, youll both be nervous

but believe me she will be very very glad of your attempt at keeping conversation going.

dont feel like there can never be a silence.

sometimes she might be trying to think of things too. :)

it also doesnt really need to be a game of twenty questions.

start with an easy answer, let her reply, then state your reply to that,

conversation will probabaly flow quite easily if you relax,

especially if you like the girl.

i always find conversation harder if you dont like someone,

best of luck! :)xxxx

leanne.od agony auntBe yourself!! sometimes it is nice to know that a guy can talk about what he wants, if you need to think up conversations, it's not natural and will show.

just ask things about her, her interests, likes, dislikes, hobbies, favourate past times, things she enjoys. don't be afraid to talk about yourself, but not too much.

the conversation should flow.

best of luck.
