I would also add adjusting his belt.I think its something to do with his uh...how much he finds you attractive.

The last two points are very important as most men would stare at a pretty girl and try to hold her gaze.Plain beats me why.Maybe just for the thrill of making the pretty girl stare at them for a few minutes..

It depends upon the situation, and of course the boy(s) in question.
Try viewing one who you think might be interested. I know I find it easier talking to a person I don't have any attraction to (not in a nasty way) than a person I do. That doesn't mean everybody who isn't talking to you likes you though! If you are in a club or some place similar, they may keep reasonably close to you, without being on his own. He may be so concerned about what he does say to you, that it comes out as a slightly broken sentence, or doesn't flow very well. I think this is true for most people. The kind of men who go about making it clear who they do and don't like are the ones worth avoiding anyway. Look out for that awkward guy, and make him know you don't bite.
