My last real boyfriend was the one who hinted he loved girls with a chelsea cut and thats what prompted me to shave it in the first place. But my most recent boyfriend told me he doesnt like it, he turns over in bed and thinks hes next to a man. Which upset me to say the least. I dont want to change for anyone, i told him that this is who i am and if he doesnt like it he can piss off. My hair is growing back and ive shaved down one side and left the rest the length it is, he says he likes it like this and its 'cute'. So now im confused. I just kinda wanna know what mens thoughts are on girls with short hair!A chelsea cut btw is fringe and sides and shaven at the back. Reply to this Question Share |

Men are biologically hard-wired to like long hair because it suggests that the potential mate is healthy and fertile--a good sexual "investment" in the evolutionary sense because she is likely to produce (his) healthy children. In the days before haircuts for women became more prevalent, this made sense, because any woman who had years to grow her hair out and still couldn't do it probably had underlying health issues.
Now that a woman can have many non-biological reasons for wearing her hair short (i.e. she likes it short and gets a haircut) this preference makes less sense--and I even think we're moving away from it somewhat. I'm not a fan of David and Victoria Beckham, but there's an example of a rich successful guy who could date any long-haired model he wanted and instead prefers Victoria with her pixie cut.
Fact is though, some guys are still going to prefer long hair. Your bf may be one, but he was out of line to say it makes you look like a man. Don't put up with that crap :) Good luck!
