writes: PLEASE HELP.I am in love with my best friend, and he feels the same way. The problem is we are both attached to other people. We don't want to hurt our partners, but dont know how to get out of this situation. His is worse, as his wife threatens to kill herself all the time. He has not been happy for years, I know this for a fact, as I know his wife very well Also we both work for her parents, so we will lose everything. My partner and I have been on the rocks for some time now, so it will not come as a shock if we split up. I love my friend so much, but I just don't know what to do!

Fancy yourself as an agony aunt? Add your answer to this question! A reader, Ellie, writes (18 March 2005): If you love your best friend and he loves you, you should let your heart decide on the matter, but think about the people who this will affect. If your best friend is not happy with his relationship, then he must explain to his partner how unhappy he is. Then you can let your heart lead the way without any disruptions.

BUT IF HE IS WORRIED TELL HIM TO LET SOMEONE IN HER FAMILY KNOW WHAT SHE HAS BEEN THREATENING AND MOVE ON.
