Ok here's my two cents. While I was on the pill I had a few side effects. Firstly, I had to stop wearing my contact lenses because very rarely the pill can affect the shape of your eyeball (ew). Nothing major, just couldn't wear them anymore and had to go back to glasses. I also had lots of uterine cramps that were not very pleasant and sometimes got extremely painful. I'd have nausea around four or five hours after taking it and because of that I'd not eat in the afternoon and then eats LOADS in the evening. I tried five different pill types and had the same problem with all of them. Then, five weeks ago I found out I was pregnant. I am happy about it but obviously the whole point of the pill is to stop that happening. I didn't miss any or throw any up. I was just that 1% that the pill doesn't work for. So ultimately it failed me. And after I give birth I probably won't be going back to it. I'll find something else. But I understand it works wonders for some people and can the perfect choice as contraception. Because it's quick and easy and does the job (for most people haha). It's your choice ultimately honey. But remember there are around 23 different types of pill so I'm sure there'll be one of them that suits you.P.s If you're going to have sex, use condoms too! I'm living proof that you should always use 2 methods of contraception if you do not want to get pregnant. ;)

I've gained 9 pounds and no matter how hard i try i can't seem to shift it. This lead to being very self consious about myself.
It also gave me big depression and if i wasn't for my boyfriend i would of been dead by now.
I wouldn't go for the pill tbh. Ask your clinic about the implant. With this you don't have to take a pill everyday and it lasts for three years.
Be carefull when you are sexualy active, the pill isn't 100% safe so always use a condom.
good luck

While your prescription is probably going to be up to the discretion of your doctor, I'd recommend using the lowest dose of hormones it takes to manage your cycle. Higher hormone doses mean more foreign stuff in your body and if you are going to have side effects related to estrogen they *generally* (not always) get worse as your dosage increases.
Good luck!

You have to find the right pill that works for you. Do NOT get the shot, for two reasons... one, the side effects seem to be worse than the pill AND, if you can't handle the side effects you can't stop taking the shot because it's in your system for a month or more. A pill you can just stop taking and any side effects should subside in a few days. With the shot, you're stuck.
I took the pill for many years ~ I found that Ortho Tricyclen worked best (the regular, original one, NOT the Ortho Tricyclen Lo.. that one made me very sick). Unfortunately, since everyone's body is different it's very hard to tell you what will work for you or what side effects you might have. I would recommend discussing your concerns with your doctor with the understanding that if the first one you try doesn't work for you or has too many side effects you can switch to another one.
The pill didn't help with my heavy and painful periods, however. I was diagnosed later with endometriosis. If you have painful periods, this might be something to look into.
Good luck!
