I work basically alone 9-5, I open and close the office every morning.I work sometimes with the owner, who is on the road working most of the day. His wife, who has a handicapped daughter, comes in during the middle of the day to answer phones (and keep the office open) and relieve me while I take a lunch break. She has been acting very discourteously recently- She always leaves the paper towel roll empty, same with the toilet paper... They eat popcorn at the reception desk, and it's never swept off the floor when they make a mess. I asked her if she had left the paper towel roll empty, and she said to me "No, I havnt been in the office. You're the only person who would have, so dont go there". I asked her then who had left the toilet paper roll on the floor, in a pile, to which she responded "Well (handicapped daughter) was in there last- If a handicapped person came in, and left it, you'd pick it up right? Why dont you just do it? You're digging yourself a hole here". Earlier this week, I stepped in gum, on the floor. She and her daughter had been sharing gum that day. Why does she act this way? Am I wrong to ask her to pick up after herself? It is my job to keep the office clean, but do I really have to pick up after other capable employees? Why is the handicapped daughter my responsibility to clean after?I want to bring this up to the owner, but I feel I'd be barking up the wrong tree... He may agree with me, and when he brings it up with his wife, the wife wont agree with him and it will come back and bite me anyways. What do I do? Reply to this Question Share |
