A female , anonymous writes:

I know i am only 17 so i shouldn't be thinking about this but i don't know if i could ever love my boyfriend enough. I have got mixed feelings for him but i think they are just about gone. I think i'm in love actually i'm more towards know i'm in love but i don't know if i could ever love him enough. About 99 % of my relationships in the past, i have got treated like shit so i was always thinking i was in love but i think it was lust most of the time and trying to make them stop treating me like shit and chasing them and appologizing for things that arn't my fault and this guy is amazing. I get butterflyes when we kiss most of the time and when he holds me. When we broke up for the mixed feelings for the 2nd time, the first time i seen him after that, i just went right into his arms and didn't want to let go. So that made me realize alot and that i don't want to let go. Yeah, sure at times when we spend all day together i get sick of him and want him to leave but only because i am bored. When we are out doing things i can't really remember a time i wanted to leave or him to leave. I know i'm too young to think about marriage but it's really scary. All the people who treated me like shit in the past, i could picture marrying them. It's scary though. I think what if he isn't the one, what if i think i know i love him but really don't? It's just something to think about. Like, i want to marry him but what if he isn't the one even though i think it's just because i am scared? Please help. I appreciate it!

Oh we have been together for almost 3 months. but we have been through alot. I think i broke up with him like 2 times for mixed feelings but they are just about gone now. Thanks!

A female reader, Ms. Tanya +, writes (4 September 2006):

Ms. Tanya agony auntFirst of all, your never to young to be in love. There is no numarical age to put on "Old enough to fall in love." When you fall in love you can not plan who it will be where it will be or when it will be.

Now, seperating Lust and Infactuation, from Love and Emotional Attration is very very very difficult. It takes most adults a long time to really figure it out, why do you think there are so many divorces today? And your never to young - or old, to think about marrige, most people will think "Wow, he's amazing, I wonder where we'll go on our honeymoon.." on they're 3rd date. I know I do.

Now, is he the one? You've broken up with him a few times, actually thats a good thing, he know when he's crossed the line and when you two can't work, he has his lines laid out for him, but you've gotten back together, even better. That suggests strong feelings, missing the person you love and missing the times you've shared, and then figureing out that a lovers quarel should not stand in the way of your relationship and that this young man is more important to you then a grudge.

Is he the man you will die married to? I have no idea, are you in love with him, it sounds like it from the way you discribe him. Do you love him enough to make a commitment like marriage to him. Only you will be able to find that out.

I hope that I have given you somthing to think about,

~Ms. Tanya

A reader, anonymous, writes (4 September 2006):

If you are questioning whether he is the one or not, then most likely, he isn't the one. Three months for most people (that I've met/known) isn't really enough for cause to get hitched.

To put it bluntly, what do you know at age 17 about commitment, love, friendship, etc, etc? You haven't even experienced it in the first place - considering that you are questioning even the simplest matters of intimacy versus thought. Take some time off this lovey dovey world of yours and reflect. When you have to say things like "I think I'm in love", you have so much more to go...
