My question is can I do it by txt message, I know it's harsh and not nice but I need to do it before Tuesday so I can forget about him as I will see him on Tuesday at work and want to go back to being professional! He's working tonight till Monday night and I'm on days so there is no time I can see him face to face or even ring him! :( please help!

I do not think breaking up by text message is acceptable.
stay up late and call him when his shift is over.

If you truly want to break up with someone out of respect for the person you should do it in person. It won't make things anymore professional texting your break up instead of just telling him how you feel. If you really feel there's no time to see him to let him know you can even call him which is still better than texting him.
