A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (6 March 2012):

Tisha-1 agony auntWhen you are 20 years older than you are now, which will you regret more, telling him and possibly changing the friendship, or not telling him, and then never knowing if he felt the same?

If you don't tell him, what will happen is that he will never know and will wind up with another girl for sure. If you do tell him, he will know and the worst that can happen is that he doesn't reciprocate your feelings and he winds up with another girl. The best that can happen is that he returns your feelings.

What do you think of your chances in either situation?
