A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Ok last school year I was in a class with a guy I really liked. We would flirt and laugh and play around most of the year. Well after a a friend (of the boy and myself) told me that he told her he liked me I got Enough courage to get a best friend to ask him out for me. It was kind of wired that he said no. but not shocking because we're from diffrent cliques and diffrent life styles. So the question is should I still want to be with him after he chose appearance over what we felt?

A female reader, Phoebe Halliwell United Kingdom +, writes (6 August 2010):

Phoebe Halliwell agony auntHey :)

Guys love to flirt and laugh and play around. I knew this guy who once did all that with me to see if I'd do it back so he'd feel good about himself, that he was attractive etc. I know it can be scary, but if you had such a good connection, why didn't you ask him out? Maybe he said no because he would be embarrassed by saying yes through your best friend incase it was a joke?

Maybe you should talk to him. Find out if he feels the same way or if it's just fun and flirting that he's after. School at age 13 -15 is tough, there is a lot of drama. As you get older and the guys you like mature it'll get better. Maybe you should hang in there for a guy who's brave enough to tell you he likes you, all by himself? You're young, have fun!

hope this helped.
