Before I took the pill I was very concerned about the side effects. I did a lot of research and there was one that says the ratio 6 to 1 in which 6 women are happy with the pill, only 1 is not. I myself am very happy with the pill. I did not gain weight. I do have mood swings but they are not stronger than I before I took the pill. I recommend healthy women taking it. I also read that biologically it's not natural for a woman to incessantly ovulate throughout her reproductive life. There was a scientist who went to an African tribe and studied how people live. Women menstruate around 14 and have an average of 8 babies in her life. They breastfeed for years, which delays ovulation. They eat wholesome foods and very rarely complain of women problems or illnesses. The reason why it's not good to ovulate time and time again is that cells divide and sometimes they make mistakes and can grow into cancer cells. A woman living in urban cities, having one or two children, typically ovulates 400 to 500 times in her lifetime. In that African tribe, a woman only ovulates 80 to 100 times. I personally believe that the pill has more advantages than disadvantages. It has lightened my periods and reduced pms symptoms. Although it's not advisable to have 8 children and skip work nowadays, the pill brings us ease when we can't follow the natural ways of living. That's if you are taking a combination pill, which prevents ovulation. If you are taking the progestin only pill you still ovulate but the egg won't get implanted.I am in a good relationship with a boyfriend I trust. So the pill has no disadvantages.

Why are you on the pill? As a contraceptive, the pill stops your body from ovulating (releasing eggs) so when you have sex, the pill prevents pregnancy as it thickens the lining of the cervix so sperm cannot get through. Because the pill contains female hormones it can also help control periods; for example the pill can make preiods lighter and reduce PMT. It has also been suggested that the pill can help with acne problems.

I got all kinds of side-effects. Bloating, sore breasts, constipation, fatigue and mood changes. If you feel that, that particular pill doesn't suit your body, go see your doctor and ask for a different pill until you find the right one.
