A female reader, Bev Conolly Australia +, writes (27 May 2006):

Bev Conolly agony auntYour periods can be really irregular for the first several years, so this isn't necessarily a sign of pregnancy. Furthermore, being stressed out can delay and/or affect your periods.

Having said that, it is possible to have a light period during the first month of pregnancy.

The major question is, have you had unprotected sex recently?

Get tested ASAP. You can go to a sexual-health clinic for free, or get a home test for about $10 or so. You need to know.
