I am currently taking the pill and on my last week on it this month I was bleeding, when I came off it I did not come on my period and my boobs have started to get bigger which is something that only happens when I am on the pill, as soon as I come off they shrink substancially. Do you think I have reason to worry about being pregnant?

Hi, I don't thik you have reason to be concerned. If you bled when you came off it then I do not think you are pregnant. I have been on the pill for years and have had many experiences like this. A lot of it is to do with the way you are thinking, if you are thinking you are pregnant you will be looking for tell tale signs, which maybe you are enhancing in your mind.

The nbest way to know for sure is to do a test, as it is dangerous to continue on the pill if in fact you are pregnant.

Hope this helps, good luck

A female reader, Bev Conolly Australia +, writes (14 February 2005):

Bev Conolly agony auntGet a pregnancy test as soon as you can. If you've been sexually active in the last month or two, you should be tested, just in case.

A home kit is pretty reliable, but you really should get to a doc or a gyno and explain to him or her about the symptoms you're having. Consider doing both things.

The pill isn't 100% effective for everybody all the time, and what you describe are unusual symptoms. To put your mind at ease and so you don't have to guess what's going on in your body, make an appointment for a test as soon as you can. That way, if you are pregnant, you can make an informed choice about what you do next, and without feeling rushed to decide.
