reader, anonymous, writes (16 January 2009): This is a very old fashioned belief! You can break your hymen through any physical activity, and some girls don't even have one in the first place! Blood or no blood is not an indication of whether someone is a virgin or not!

reader, anonymous, writes (16 January 2009): thats not neccesarily true, the only reason you bleed is because the 'hymen' tears during intercourse, however many womens hymen has been torn beforehand e.g. during excersice or horse riding, but that does not mean they are not virgins.
