I have had terrible problems with my joints. They crack and crick really easily, all I have to do it move them a tiny bit and I have days when I cant even move my neck because it's so stiff. Occasionally I will have around a week where my neck is too stiff to do anything and I cant think of a reason for this. My wrists have been getting worse lately and it's affected my writing and fencing ability which are both really important to me. Luckily, my legs and shoulders are fine. I think my family has a history of arthritis but I'm only 15, Is there anything I can do to help? Generally, I am quite active because I walk, cycle and swim a lot.

LULU'S Advice agony auntThe first thing you have to do my love is see the doctor. You sound quite nhealthy in general but at 15 you shouldn't be having achey joints like that. have you spoken to your parents about a family history of this sort of thing. There are supplements you can take to help your joints but they don't work straiht away.Glucosamine is very good,a lot of athletes take these. Also cod liver oil capsules are good. but first of all please speak to your parents and go see the doctor for a professional opinion.xx

Love-struck agony auntarthritis runs in my family too, i had a similar problem with my wrists, they were always stiff and sore and got even worse from balancing my body on one hand (i was such a show off lol).

that was last year when i was 14 but then i told the doctor about it and he gave me support bands for my wrists and told me to stop doing sports for a few weeks to see if they would improve, i still have wrist touble but not as bad as before, my friend paul has arthritis and he is the same age as you, mine isnt as serious but could develop into it. did you go to a bone specialist to get your wrists checked out? id advise it to prevent further damage and to see if you can possibly fix it. oh and for the neck problem i had a bad neck but that was just because i use waaayyy too many pillows when im sleeping.

I would suggest consulting your Primary Care/Family doctor. The doctor may know which suppliments would help you the most, and if it's something more than just arthritis, (which it could be). There are many types of bone/joint issues, so it's better to get this looked at, rather than ignore it/skim over it.

I'm a serious dancer, and I participate in all types of dance, so my joints can be painful at times as well...I usually take a suppliment that my doctor recommends, and it helps a bit.
