I had an internet friend for over 6 months and we came to know each other well.I never met him ,though he insisted to.He was just an online FRIEND on yahoo chat site. Everything was going well between us , we had many chats, but then suddenly he proposes me, out of my shock .I refused, and then we had couple of fights ,he tried to convince me to be his GIRL friend and said all the BEAUTIFUL things that all the girls wanna hear .I fell for him .Never even once i gave him a signal over the chats that i have the same feelings for him.Now things have got worst ,he is ignoring me .Not bothered to give replays to my emails and messages .I saw his facebook account he updated his single status to "IN A RELATIONSHIP" that says he has a girl friend.I dont have his contact number ...i can't forget him....help me plzzzz...dont know what should i do

He's crazy, proposing marriage to someone he never met. Consider yourself well rid as it sounds like he'll have anyone! You can do better believe me.

Run! There was another guy on Facebook so similar. He was very flirty with me daily and then I found out he was flirty with lots of our mutual female FB friends. We called him on it and there was no more contact from him at all, then he deleted his FB account. Then it came back on line and it said he was married.

A reader, anonymous, writes (19 September 2010):

I agree with the Aunts below, The guy is an illusion. That's it. Forget about him. Part of the problem, here is that you go online, in private. It's just you alone with your own psyche, its dreams and its desires. Many of the usual instinctive, red-flag feelings on human behavior are absent. You are on your own and your mind has been free to run away with itself. And we know, that hopes and dreams are not enough to build a relationship on anytime, anywhere, on or off the internet. Real love takes time and a lot of hard work, sacrifice, efforts and "face to face" real life interaction. I feel you are simply infatuated, with an illusion.

I consider myself a romantic, but romance for me isn't glass slippers and simple declarations of love. Maybe it's because I have had long-term experience with the real thing, enough to know that love isn't about finding a guy online, you haven't even met, yet. The internet is plentiful and teeming with people trying to take advantage of people who yearn for intimacy. I realize that you felt talking with him, online, made you feel extremely close, loved and understood. But understand this...there are a lot of men and women online, who beguile and victimize others.

Stop pining away and stop allowing the fantasy about some online guy, you've never met, take an over-riding, primary role in preventing you from finding a quality real life relationship. Forget him, and get out in the real world and find a nice guy, someone that you can hold, touch and bond with.
