me and my girlfriend were best mates for 2 years before we got together so we know everything about each other, trust each other, have thought alot about it and liked each other for a long time before we got together, We both have ha dsex with previous partners and are both 16. (to get that out of the way at the beginning)

We had sex very quickly and i think this was the right thing for us to do as it felt right as our feelings for each other had develope a lot in the "is it right because we are good friends" stage. However she decided to go on the pill, but because of health conditions she has to take a daily pill instead of the normal one, she knows that sometimes she has been late taking the pill on a few days.

She has not had a period for 7.5 weeks now and we are beginning to get worried. we always use a condom without fail, and check quickly for breaks. She says that her last two periods have been 2 weeks apart. The pill supposedly makes there a possibility she will be late or miss a period and to not raise alarm. however it has now been almost 8 weeks (2 months).

She has said shes always been irregular and with the pill and more sexual activity (and stress from exams, and worrying about no period) it could just be those factors contributing to it and she thinks we should wait a week before getting a test. We would have to be extremely unlucky to have had sex on the day she was late with her pill AND have a condom break (which we do not think has happened yet) although we are beginning to get worried and not sure what we should do next. what our chances are, or if we are just being paranoid and the pill is just delaying it for her.

please help

Wendyg agony auntHey there... Im sure you are being pretty safe, and it sounds to me as though your girllfriend is on the Mini Pill.. Prostegen only.. I'm on this pill because I suffer with migraine and the doctors wont allow me to take the combined pill. Now with this pill you have a lesser window of opportunity, and you have to take this pill pretty much bang on every day you get upto 3 hours leeway with it the combined you get 7 hours, but its always best not to dice with it! So that needs to make sure its adhered to.

Now given the fact shes on the pill and using condoms, it would be slightly difficult to fall pregnant but not remote.

The only way to be sure is to take a pregnancy test. But from personal experience, I am on the same pill, and I dont have periods! havent had a proper period for 2 years! The mini pill can cause this to happen... It can go from not having them to having them to having slight periods and so fourth, it varys with each woman but after about 6 months settles down to one pattern so you know where you are. Its not ideal not having periods as you dont know if you are pregnant, but if the pill is taken correctly then you get used to not having the periods and it feels slightly less daunting.

Now the stress is also a factor here that can delay a period as can eating habits and so fourth.

Im sure you have nothing to be too overly concerned with as it seems you are doing everythign right and are acting very responsible.

Im pretty sure its just the mini pill, like i said im on it and Ive not had a period for 2 years!

Take care x

cd206 agony auntIt's nearly certainly the pill or exam stress but I don't have laser vision so I can't tell you she's definitely not pregnant. The fact is that if you're having sex (no matter how safe you're being) then you could get pregnant. The stress of wondering may even be delaying her period even more. I strongly advise that you take a test because if she was pregnant she would be 11 weeks now and your options get slimmer after 12 weeks so taking a test quickly is the key. Maybe the result will show you that you have nothing to worry about but I think you need to find out as soon as. Good luck.

You and your girlfriend must do a pregnancy test as soon as possible to know one way or another, if it does come out negative then that will at least put your minds at rest and help you relax. However, if you are really unlucky enough to have been caught out then at least you will know and the sooner the better.

Good luck
