My girlfriend has gone away to college and I miss her so much. How can I fill this void?

A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Yesterday my girlfriend of over 2 years left for college. I had a very hard time letting go. Since I'm also going to college in a week we decided to take a break, but our relationship is by no means over and we still love each other so much. Which means I am currently miserable and am completely lost without her. I know I'm going to college in a week and will be easier to keep me occupied, but for the next week all my friends are gone to college and I'm a mess with nothing to do but to wait for a hurricane to hit. Is there anything I can do to lessen the pain of missing my girlfriend or to keep me occupied so it doesn't hurt as much?

Why can't you talk to her on the phone everyday or night, even just a couple times a week? Or does a break mean no contact? I know its nothing like being able to hold her or cuddle up beside but it could help! How long will you be without her? And just keep busy by doing things you like or keep up with your school work and once your back together you both will feel like the happiest people in the world to have eachother back again :) try not to let it make you feel down . Just think of when your back together again! Goodluck :D

Hey, I'm going through pretty much the same thing but I'm a girl. What I do is work out. Not only does it keep me physically busy but also mentally strong. I do yoga and run. With the hurricane coming (we were expecting it too in FL) there isn't much to do out, but even youtube exercise videos can help. I also read ahead for my classes so I have more free time to myself. I go and take walks outside sometimes as You know what else does it for me? Stretching...stretching out your muscles and limbs REALLY releases all that tension and anxiety. Look up some good exercises online, print them out and keep busy! the minute you start thinking about her, exercise and think positively, "wow next time I see her I'm gonna be so fit!"

I really hope some of this helped, it helps me loads. Good luck :)
