writes: I have had an interest in my best male friend for a while now. I have been honest with him about my feelings and we still maintain a friendship. He has said he does not have romantic feelings for me. Recently I have begun dating someone else and whenever I am asked about this relationship and he is around to hear it he gets all weird saying he doesn't want to hear about it. Well it's really great to be told that "I think you're brilliant."
So for you to go and then go and find some one else brilliant instead is a bit of a blow.
He's had his ego boost taken away, and so he is acting in this way because he is jealous. He's not jealous of you being with someone else, but he's jealous because you are not adoring him any more.
He'll get over it.

reader, anonymous, writes (17 November 2008): he likes you but is too scared to admit it.....ive been through this and it might put a tension in the friendshiphes obviously jealous of this guy, but is confused within himself about getting closer to youmaybe he is frightened of commitment? has got hurt in the past by a girl?or maybe other things on his mindif he keeps acting like this have a chat with him and ask why .. dnt let it ruin ur friendship over this. i know its hard tho
