A reader, anonymous, writes (23 June 2008):

Normally I would say no, an education is very important and you will need it after your modeling career has finished. However your grades are bad and you have managed to secure a job. Is there any reason why you can't do this job part time or in the summer holidays. I can't advise you with this, this is a decision that you must make for yourself. I would remind you however if this modeling dosen't work out, then you may find it hard to find another job if you lack the relevant qualifications. I suggest you seriously talk this over with your parents and see what they think about you leaving school.

PS: You can also try to get your education later, but you will have to pay for it yourself and it will be very expensive.

O Connor agony aunti dont think that you should drop out of school with no opportunities on the horizon. use your free time to go to agencies, build your portfolio, and attend events and auditions that will help you. if you drop out of school and you have no modelling work lined up, then you will have nothing to fall back on you know? i think that you should stay in school and work as much as you can on becoming a model. the other thing is that modelling is a very short lived career and it can be dangerous not to have any degree or qualification as eventually you may need something to fall back on if you dont make it full time or if it is quite short lived for you. i hope this helps, email me if you wanna talk. xxx
