Hi, I've got a problem which I would really appreciate some help on.

My child has a computer in her room and I found some porn on it. I have confiscated her computer but I told her that she 'spends too much time on it.' I don't know how to confront her about it.

Thank you for all your help guys. I had a chat with my daughter and have blocked porn sites. I realise that she is just mildly curious not a pervert!

Thanks once again!

Hi, I am 14, and have seen a small amount of "porn" since i hit puberty, i feel that her looking is natrual, because i know other people my age look too. yes it is young, but i think that as i understand more about my own body and others, once i had seen it, i didnt feel the need to watch any more. Boys that age are starting to get curious as well, and people on this site agree that it is normal for teenage boys to watch porn. Do you think that she should be alloud to read some articles on this site?

xx

Your daughter is going to be as uncomfortable as you when you sit her down. Depending on the the level of graphics she saw on the computer you might as well talk to her about everything that way if she does decide to go out do what they did on the computer because it made her feel tingly when she watched she also knows the damage it can do too. You should also talk to her about relationships and friendship too. Explain to her that as she gets older she is going to notice changes in her body and have new feelings for the opposite sex that she may have already felt when watching the porn. Talk to her about sexual infections and pregnancy or even show her the booklets/pictures of STD (herpes etc). Make her aware of peer pressure, sexual abuse and rape so she knows the difference when it comes to her making the all important decision. Everything is not what it appears in porn

Suggestion: If all else fails, put her computer out in the main living area, where you can monitor her activities on the computer. But it's plain to see you must talk with this daughter of yours about the 'birds and the bees', she doesn't need to learn about it in such a damaging way, as in Net Porn.

A reader, anonymous, writes (13 May 2009):

I am not a proponent of allowing underaged adolescents view pornography, let alone an 11 year old child! To condone this behavior is absolutley ludicrous. I myself, have installed blocks on my home system, so porn doesn't get into the house via the internet, let alone anyone's computer. Children can exist happily without porn, it's a proven fact. We've been doing it for centuries. What you can do, Mom, is plainly your daughter is sexually curious...take her aside and start teaching her about human sexuality in an open, mature fashion by allowing her to ask you questions and opening this up for disussion. But please do tell her, that watching porn in your home is not tolerated and do something about it.
