writes:I really need some guy advice! Im sixteen and ive been going out wiht this sixteen year old guy for about a month. We really love each other, sometimes i think he loves me more than i love him. He's always giving his stuff, like his watch, his necklace thats a guitar pick that he's best friend gave him, and stuff like that. Well he said he had a prestent for me and i started asking him questions about it...i figured out what it was, i havent told him yet because i want him to think im surprised. But he's going to give me his antique base guitar. His mom had it when she was our age! I dont know how to accept this, my dad said i shouldnt and should tell him i love the thought but not to take it. And he said i shouldnt take anymore gifts from him...should i take my dads advice?!?!?!? I dont know what to do, any advice at this point would be great!PS....He's in a band and he only has that base guitar and another one. He says that one means a lot to him and he wants to give it to me because i mean a lot to him.

he is a musician and he wants to give you are prized guitar? I'm sorry but that is crazy. Your dad is right, you shouldnt even think about accepting this.
Tell him that material gifts dont make your relationship, he doesnt need to do these things for you to make you love him. I would say to him that girls much prefer flowers/chocolates - then he will stop giving away his valuable possessions and you will get a nice bunch of flowers all the time. How's that for a win win situation.

reader, anonymous, writes (20 November 2007): If he keeps giving you stuff...I think he wants something, i'm not saying hes planning anything cos he sounds like a really good boyfriend. but tell him that you don't need gifts to know he loves you, if he tries to argue back, kiss him.
