If you want to ask a guy out, then ask him out by yourself. Don't play games like that. It is best to just do it yourself. The worse that is going to happen in he will deny you. So what, it's better to hear it yourself then have your friend tell it to you.

As has been said, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.
Getting your friend to ask people out for you is never a great strategy - reason being, you can't be sure if they're going to do it or not, what they're going to say to the person, and you won't be able to see the reaction.
Confidence is one of the most attractive qualities a person can have - asking him yourself will give you more of an opportunity to demonstrate this, and it will also give you more control over the situation (no embarassing revelations by a friend... I've been there ;-))
Good luck. =)
