writes: hi guysjust looking for a tad bit of help.been with my partner for 5 half years now. been engaged a year and this september were getting married. :-) my partner is in the merchant navy with a pretty good rota..he works 3weeks away and 3 weeks at home. which is pretty good for the job. everytime he comes home.we.go.out for a nice 3/4 course meal have a couple bottles of wine and so on. as i said were getting married in.september whih as many of you may know is a pretty pricey day. so instead of going out when he is next home in a couple of weeks and spending alot of money we both came to an odea we should still have the 3/4 course meal and wine but have a romantic night in with home cooking. i suggested i should cook the meal with him traveling all day and i shall eb off work and at home. if any if you could help me out on menu ideas? appetiser/entre, starter, main course and dessert. something nice and romantic but not overly hard to cook? none of us eat fish of any aort so that cannot be on the menumamny thanks

reader, anonymous, writes (1 February 2013): You could also cheat a little, pop to M & S or Waitrose for ideas as they often have meals prepared, like chicken with a glaze and veg ready to roasts and you just pop it in oven and they've done the hard work! I am sure Waitrose also sell prepared dauphinois potatoes and such so you can impress without slaving away lol! Also have to love their desserts : )
Might as well make it as easy for you as possible so that you can also have time to get ready and aren't tired/stressed out from attempting new things.

You don't want to be slaving away so do a starter thats quick,and things you can prepare the day before like a casserole of some sort

There are so many choices that I'd recommend a website like foodnetwork.com so that you can get some ideas knowing what the two of you like and what's available where you live.
In my experience availability is a huge issue as things vary from country to country and town to town.
