Question - (31 March 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 1 April 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok about a year ago my friend told me she likes this boy in one of our classes. He also happens to be the boy I liked the previous year. I told him I liked him on valentines day via a card and he gave me one back saying he was flattered but he had a girlfriend. I was gutted buy I got over it and got myself another boyfriend. Yea so since about this time last year my friend has liked this guy and she really wanted to tell him but still hasn't and her feelings for him has only increased. I mean REALLY increased. To the point where he's the only thing she'll talk about now and if he's around then I can't really talk to her because her attention will be on him. But the thing is she doesn't have any sort of relationship with him. I mean like even friendship wise.

The extent of their relationship is saying hi and bye when they see each other around school and even then if he doesn't say hello to her she gets really upset. And then there's the fact that she acts like he's the best person in the world and that he's her main focus in life. Like she'll go on and on about what a nice and good person he is but how does she really know without knowing him? Also because I'm a firm believer in 'bros before hoes' [in other words always put friends before girl/boyfriends],

I'm really hurt that she wouldn't hesitate to put him before me. After seven years of friendship and this is what happens. It's only yesterday I realised how sad and pathetic the whole thing is when I asked her to wait for me after lessons and she later revealed that she only waited at the hope of seeing him otherwise she would've just left. Is it me or is that a bit weird? Or maybe it IS me and she just doesn't want to be my friend any more. Answer views/answers much appreciated! =D

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (1 April 2009):

She's acting like a 13 year old girl.

Unfortunately she is crazy in love with this guy and not mature enough to handle it.

There is a good chance that she will be a bad friend through all this because she hasn't learned that boys come and go but friends are more important.

Hopefully she will come out of the other side ok and you two will make up.

Just tell her that she has to either make a move on him, ask him out or get over him because it is getting boring and you are sick of being second best to him.

She'll probably throw a fit about it and accuse you of being the bad one but after that then she'll probably realise that it's true.

Good Luck!! xx
