A female United Kingdom age 51-59, RubyBirtle writes:

A thought for the day (or for tomorrow since it's nearly midnight)

Not too long ago I was in a play. In the final scene I had to stare at someone with complete contempt. I searched my soul and into that stare I poured every single bit of hatred I had for every wankerish ex-boyfriend that had come before. I had to hold that expression for what seemed like forever. Actually, it was only half a page of dialogue but it REALLY, REALLY hurt....keeping my face all screwed up like that.

So don't hold onto that hate. Let it go. Don't dwell on it. The more you hold onto it, the more it hurts! And it'll keep hurting you until you let it go.

And learn from the experience ... it might do you a favour in the future. In my case what I learnt was invaluable: the newspaper review read "Ruby Birtle's face was a picture and held all the scorn of the Samsa family as Gregor limps back to his room for the final time"

(I'd like to thank the Academy and all my exes...)

And 100 points (of absolutely no value) if you can guess the play!

Abella agony auntThis is indeed an inspiring and thought provoking article. I found it most impressive.

Glad that your performance was so well received. Your drew on your own inner strength to give such a sterling presentation in the play

Thank you for writing such a great article.

From time to time one does come across a mega negative hate filled person.

A hate filled person leaves me only with a feeling of pity for that person.

By feeling pity for them their vitriole and lack of empathy, their vindictiveness and the internal violence that rages within them is only harming their persona.

I can get on with my life despite their best efforts to stain my life with their venom they hold inside themselves.

They harm themselves far more than they can affect me with their nastiness.
