A female United States age 30-35, *nonem writes:

Hello , I would admit to being depressed for the past few weeks. Let me start by saying I am at a point in my life where I am not happy with my finances, my relationship and everything in general. I have gone out a couple of times with the intention of meeting someone new but it never happens. I either meet extremely broke guys who can't even afford their transport fare or ...lets just say I have gone out for a couple of days and not met any single person. I am 21, beautiful, sexy, I model but it's like I am invisible when I go out. I begin to wonder if I am too skinny or something. I am very sad, I am not in a happy relationship, I just ended it this morning tho and no one seems to be looking at me. I know I'd hear am 21, young I have a whole life ahead of me. How do I overcome this feeling? I have tried to involve myself in so many things it's not working. I want to give up.

A female reader, janniepeg Canada +, writes (20 July 2015):

janniepeg agony auntYour bad luck with guys is not a reflection of how you are. It is a reality that a lot of people can't afford things because of steep rising costs over the years. You are feeling this way because most people have been sold on the idea that if only you work hard you will be successful. Your dreams will come true if you set your mind to it. You feel disenfranchised but you are certainly not alone. If you see children in public and look up and find that the adults are in their 40's with grey hair, that's because they finally climbed up the ladder after the baby boomers retire. They can finally afford to settle down. You can only try your best. If you work hard you can survive. If you give up you have nothing. When it comes to romance you can keep trying too but just be realistic about the pool of guys that are there.
