I've fallen madly in love with two girls

A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok, a serious question. You see, I've never had luck with love in the past. I've liked people but never had that certain special feeling for them, which has made me think that I'd never find someone.

Well all of that has changed now. I've fallen in love with two girls, and its driving me crazy. The first one I've known for a couple of years. We had our ups and downs, but got through the tough times and I somehow had fallen in love with her. She herself said that she's been thinking about us being together in a relationship, which made me pretty happy. The problem is, she lives a thousand miles away due to the college she chose, and I can't see her. She's also two years older than me.

The other girl goes to the college I'm at, in my freshman class. We take history together, and we've known each other for almost a year (we met before we went to college, during my senior year), and as I started to get to know her more and such, I fell in love with her. My heart is hurting though, because she's now in a relationship, and I can't act on my feelings. I told myself that I'd get over her, but I can't get her out of my head. I don't want to get her out of my head either. I have to do something, and tell her how I feel.

The two of them are driving me insane and I don't know what to do. I want to act on them both, but I can only have one and I'm not sure what to do or who to go for. These two are probably the most perfect girls for me, I can feel it. My problem is that I want to act on them both but I'm afraid. The one from my college says she'd rather know if someone had feelings for her, but I'm afraid of rejection and that our friendship won't be the same. The one 1,000 miles away is a really good friend of mine, and while I want to tell her my feelings, I'm afraid that she won't be able to accept me due to our distance, and age difference, even though she's thinking about what it'd be like for us to be together (I'm still not sure what to think of that either). I'm a little too immature for her I think, but she doesn't seem to mind.

Like I said, I'm going insane. I think I should try for the one at my college first, since the other one is too far away and I can't even go visit her because my parents are afraid for my safety (I'm 18 and a guy, I'll be fine, sheesh). But I don't know. I just really love them both and need help. So someone? Please?

eyeswideopen agony auntWell if you are upfront about the fact that you are dating around why can't you date both of them? As long as they understand that you aren't committing yourself to a monogamous relationship, I don't see what the problem is.
