A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I have been in a relationship off and on for the past two years with a man that I have considered a friend, lover, and family.

We have been, so to speak, kindred spirit. I know this sounds silly but it true. The past 6 months we have trid to make our relationship work, but the problem was, we have hurt each other too much during that time that we both could not get past it.

Fear of getting hurt has played a role, and has made us both react shitty. Through the ups and downs in the past we have always remained friends.

Right now he doesn't know if he can be at this moment, but the day before he wanted to. Its been this back and forth kind of thing. I need a different outlook.
