Is this a red flag? How should I proceed?

A female Austria age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I've been seeing a guy for the past 4 weeks. We both agreed not to date other people since we've become intimate. First two weeks, he was amazing, attentive and takes me to nice places. Lately, he's still making an effort to meet up (even though he's VERY busy with work) but he's acting grumpy. I confronted him about this and he apologised and blamed it on work. He said he knows he should cool down because otherwise he'd grow to be a lonely old man.

I told him that I understand that he's very stressed at work but then again I don't believe that it's all work-related. Sometimes when I'm at his place, I talk to him and he seems into another world, he just doesn't realise I'm talking to him. He also ignores my emails or texts sometimes but he does call at the end of the day to wish me a good night. What is this? I'm confused :S

Some extra info: he's 28, i'm 24. i don't think he's seeing someone else as he asks me to hang out with him often (at his workplace for lunch and at his place) and he introduced me to his friends. He even wanted to give me a key to his apartment, so I don't think he's got anything to hide.
