writes: is it true that birth control pills can lead to weight gain? most of my friends say they have gained extra weight from using the pill, with the range being from a few pounds up to 3 stones! my husband and i use other methods of birth control,(and it certainly wouldnt be the end of the world if we got pregnant), i was just wondering whether it was fact.

No, the pill does not lead to weight gain.
There have been studies by reputable organizations/doctors that disprove that myth - just do a quick online search for "birth control" and "weight gain." Here is an article that discusses it:

Yes, it is true that birth control pills can cause weight gain. It all depends on the woman though. And I guess it depends on what you would rather risk...putting on a few extra pounds, or getting pregnant. I would suggest talking to your doctor about it first though. I hope this helps.
