Is it possible to get a true life long partner when you are gay?

Hi everyone. First, I am a gay. Second I can not find my real love, alhough I have made a lot of effort for searching. I have the feeling that maybe men do not want a serious relationship with a man; maybe just some sex and no responsability. The few stabile gay couples I know usually define their marriage/relationship as "open", what sounds horrific for me. I wonder what other gays think on this. So is it possible to get a true lifelong partner?

So_Very_Confused agony auntWell my brother and his husband are together over a decade and very monogamous. they have many long term monogamous couple friends both gay and straight...

My aunt and her wife are together 20 years...

of course they were not married all this time as it was not legal here (and it still is not in many states)

so yeah it happens...

Tisha-1 agony auntI have some gay friends who are in long-term relationships that are more stable and less drama-filled than some of my straight friends. You find what you are looking for, I think. Perhaps you need to look for new friends?

I know 2 gay couples, one male one female. Both are in long term relationships, live together and have done for years and are very happy.I or anyone that knows them can't imagine either couples any other way.

So, I would say its as much a possibility as any male/female couple, probably more so, because of the problems that have to be overcome before they set up home together they prove to be 100% sure and committed

A reader, anonymous, writes (18 March 2012):

I am not a gay man, but some of my friends are, and I know 2 of them are in happy monogomous relationships. They are even married and are very proud to say that they have found their lifelong partner, so yes it is possible. It's hard to find that person sometimes, but it is possible, so don't give up. Good Luck
