There are alot of factors that effect your period.
Stress, change of life and or routine etc and yes it is true women within close quarters do have synchronised periods.
For your own piece of mind I would take a pregnancy test, they are now quite cheap I know when I last brought one it was about £3.50 and worth the piece of mind and being able to move on from the worry.

Its not unusual for a cycle to change to 32 days and 34 is just outside of that, it could be the added stress(sometimes college and things can be overwhelming and we just dont realise it) that you have and your body is as you say just adjusting. It is possible for women to bring each other on so to speak, was hell in our house for my dad lol... My mum and us 2 girls, we didnt start out with the same cycle but over time gradually adjusted so that we did, dont know how or why, but more often than not we were on within a couple of days of each other. When i left home I wasnt the same cycle as those two, but instead adpated that of my close friend at work lol.. so yes it is possible and it does seem a bit nuts but it can happen. I wouldnt worry too much at this stage given that you have some added stress and that you dont really have full sexual contact, the chances are almost remote that you would have got pregnant unless he first had semen on his hands. even then its much harder! I think its the change in your life plus every 7-8 years the whole body goes through a cycle change anyway so could all be to do with stress and indeed being around other females! So for example if you are 17/18 and started your periods around the 11 or so mark it could just be normal hormonal changes and its nothing to worry about.
Take care x
