I think you are drawing to much emphasis on this foot difference in height. If you both really like each other then this should not be an issue atal, its how you both feel about each other, not that he is a foot taller. Go for it and date him, and look for the positive things that the relationship brings.

Unless you create a problem out of it - by thinking too much about it - it shouldn't be a problem. What about the height are you concerned about? Is it because you think people would think it's strange? If that's the reason, try not to think about it. Besides, it's not any of their business anyway.
Every relationship is different, but I'll tell you this anyway: one of my friends is 4'9" and she was in a relationship with - and got married to - someone who is 6'2". He is the best thing that happened to her and height is the last thing on their minds. They are happy with each other and that's all that matters.
If you like this guy, then height shouldn't keep you apart. Don't let what other people think ruin a potential happy future for the both of you. ^_^
