writes:I think I'm in love with my best friend. This is probably gonna be a long one so please read all of it and give me the best advice you can. I really appreciate it. We'll call her Carl. I've known her for going on 14 years now. Two years ago I developed feelings for her and I told her about them, but lets back up about 2 months. She was 11 years old and I was 14 (when I look at the age difference it kinda doesn't seem right) she was just getting into the flirty stages and she flirted a lot. There we're nights when she would come onto me pretty hard. One night while we (meaning Her, me, Her cousin, and her brother) where all staying at her grandparents house, we all stayed up all night in the dark. The whole time Carl and I held hands. In the morning nothing was said, later that day she came to my house, I don't know if she expected anything to happen or not, but nothing did happen. Now ahead two months. Every weekend in the summer we where either at her grandparents house, or her brothers girlfriends house. I told her how I felt one night, and i guess she freaked out. It led to several arguments over the next few months. She would just do the dumbest things to piss me off. She would never let me hug her, she would never let me do little things for her, I couldn't comfort her if she was sad or anything. One example of something she did is, one night We were all staying at her brother's girlfriend's grandfather's house it was about 1:00Am and Carl wanted some pickles, she couldn't get the jar open so she came into the living room, asked everyone in the room to open it, except me. I asked her to let me see the jar so I could try to open it for her but she said no, instead she woke up the old man and asked him to it. When I was 15 and she was 12, I found a new girlfriend. After that things slowly faded with Carl and we became great friends again. I'll be 17 on April 6th and she'll be 14 on April 8th and things are still going good. She let's me hug her, in fact sometimes she hugs me for no reason, I help her when she's upset. She'll let me rub her back and tell her everything's ok, but I'm still in love with her. Sometimes I think she feels the same way about me. Recently I've caught her staring at me from across the room a few times. But I'm just scared that she'll freak out and things will be the same way again.

You are both still finding out about life so I am not sure that there is anything sexual in this you are merely best friends. It is not unusual to feel love and affection for best friends, but I am sure how far it goes beyond that.
At this stage in life you or she may move on to college or a job and there is no reason that you would just reamin very good friends?
I think you need to step back as she is younger than you and st s different stage. It is realy a hard thing to do but that is how its got to be?
