writes: hi i need some advice please.i really like this guy i work with and im sure hes already aware that i like him a lot. but it seems that he only wants to be friends at work. hes happy to work with me and have me pay for lunch etc but when it comes to socialising he balks at the idea and makes excuses. he goes on about me being a nice person and stuff and that ive been such a good friend to him blah blah blah but when i mentioned once about socialising he said that his socialising wouldnt be my thing. i took that as him meaning im a boring librarian. im fed up because ive liked him but been a damn good friend to him and lent him money when hes been in trouble etc but hes got very cocky since ive helped him through his work stuff and hes also had a massive problem with telling the truth on loads of occassions.im really fed up with this i dont know what to do

reader, anonymous, writes (6 November 2010): i had two reactions. One is he is smart and understands the dangers of sexual harassment laws at work. The second reaction is due to his comment to you. Have you considered that he may already be in a gay relationship but he prefers to keep that private and undisclosed at work. Stop lending him money
