It is always hard to talk to new people. Think about the interesting things about yourself and what you would tell people about you and relate it to them ask them to tell you about their hobbies family freinds where they go out. You will find that most people love to talk about themselves and love a good listener. I am a very shy person but because i listen i find myself very popular and sought out.

It only takes a hi to start a conversation. Think about something you can say to start a convo if you're worried, something casual like it's such a nice day or I love your jeans etc. Maintaining a conversation is a two person job but if you're very shy it sometimes helps to have a few things in mind to fill up any silent moments.
