I'm positive my friend took something of mine and I don't know how to confront her about it!

A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Ok, so I have a really strange situation with a gf of mine. I had invited her on Valentines day to my house because she got in a huge fight with her bf so she decided to sleep over at my house. As she spent the night over, I woke up the next morning and I saw one of my cupboards open where I had some valubles in there, not thinking anything at the time so I didn't bother to look. Something came up yesterday and I looked in that same cupboard and it was gone!

I'm totally shocked and I swore I thought I knew this girl really well, I mean she was a really good friend of mine. Although I've only known her since 2007 summertime, we've became really close and I thought I could trust her. I don't want to put the blame on anyone or point fingers so I checked the whole entire house, hoping that I would find it and hoping that our friendship is not in jeopardy!

No one else has been to my house and the last person was her and I feel really upset and betrayed if she would have taken it, I mean no one else was there except myself and I know I'm not hallucinating because I am certain it was there and I saw a few days before she came. What do I do in this situation? I know that she ain't gonna tell me the truth, so what do I do? I can't pretend to be her friend and I don't want to confront her, it's embarassing! Pls help me!
