A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've been having sex with my boyfriend for about four months now and things have been going great. My periods have always been a little unpredictable and my longets cycle lasted 42 days. My period is now 4 days late from the 42 day mark and I was getting really worried that i could be pregnant, however, i took a test and the result was negative.

I'm really stressed out just now and the late period is just making things worse, could this be a reason why my perod is so late?

test again... and even though they are kind of expensive (compared to the regular ones), buy a digital test. There is a chance of false negative, even though the box says it can't happen.

And RELAX... this could also be the problem. If the second test comes up negative, you should probably get a blood test from a doctor or planned parenthood.

And by all means, let this be something you learn from! I'm not trying to be a "mom" about it, but you need to keep yourself safe! There are other options to condoms you can buy in any drugstore, to at least protect against pregnancy.

Best of luck to you, just be calm, wait a few more days and test again :)

Being stressed and afraid about being pregnant can not only stop you from having your period, but also make your stomach develop like you're having a baby as well (my biology teacher told me a story about a friend it happened to). If the test came out negative, you're most likely not pregnant. Take it easy, I'm sure everything will be fine.

I think you are stressed out because your period is so late. It's funny, I can be relaxed as ever when I'm ON my period, but the days before it are just ugh.....
