I find that when I’m stressed I pig out and when I’m due on my period I just want to eat loads of chocolate and cake. I’ve tried many different diets and nothing seems to work. I also tried cutting all crap out of my meals but it’s not realistic and when I was really craving something I would give in and then feel like I had wrecked it so wouldn’t carry on being good the following day. Basically I just wondered if anyone has any REALISTIC diets or healthy eating plans I could follow. Stuff like simple meal plans that are easy to have when I’m at college. I’m also struggling to stop myself from drinking coca cola as well. I used to weigh 7 and a half stone and was happy with how I looked. Me and my friend are joining the gym on Monday which is right next door to our college and is a reasonable price. I’ve also purchased a cross trainer (which is a bit skimpy and wobbly but does the job) and asked my brother to borrow his weights so my exercise should be alright. I also walk over a mile a day so this should help keep me fit. I also get free swimming with my gym membership which I will also use once I’ve lost some weight and I am more confident with my body.If I could do this it would seriously make a difference to my life. I would be a hell of a lot happier, my relationship would improve and gain more confidence giving me the strength to do the things I’ve always wanted to do.

Diets are crap, you lose weight, but you put all back on and more when the diet stops. Best thing is to do exercise and cut out the bad stuff from your diet. Eating healthy should be an everyday thing. Chocolate, cake, cola.. full of sugar and nothing else. Keep a food diary, write down all the stuff you eat, and anything that gives you emotional stress. Your in the UK, so check out the channel 4 website, look under foods, there's a programme that helps you to make the foods you love, (cake, pizza etc) but in a more healthy way. Can't remember what it's called, eat yourself slim or something.1. PeriodsYou lose water, so drink lots of fluids. There are a range of foods that are good for periods, go for iron rich stuff like spinach. Tomatoes are good as well. Your body is lacking the correct minerals and vitamins at this time. That's why you crave sweet food. A vitamin/mineral supplement would probably be good for you. Boost your intake of vegetables and fruit at this time. They will make you too full to eat any cake.2. StressYou use food as a comfort to relieve stress and sadness. Many women do this, but it can make you obese and fat. Try to think about what stresses you and when, try to do something other than eat. Luckily exercise is brilliant for stress and distress. So go for a run, or put some music on and dance anytime you feel fed up and are having a bad day.Visit your doctor and ask them about advice around diets, stress, periods and comfort eating. Ask them what you can do about your food cravings. They might have some further advice to give you. Keep a diary and write down any bad feelings you have rather than turning go and getting some food. A brilliant book you should read is, "Fat is a Feminist Issue" by Susie Orbach. I haven't read it myself, but it's about eating and diets. It deals with our (female) emotional relationship to food. Get a copy from the library.Don't diet, that's the way to stay fat, but try to think of different ways to think about food. Sure cake is nice, and you can have some if you want. But a person who eats to much cake gets fat, just as a person who drinks too much can become alcoholic. If you can't resist and be good, then you can't have it in the house. You just need to change the way you think, and stop using food as something to provide comfort when you need. Have fun at the gym, hopefully it will speed up your metabolism. Good luck
