Personally, my first time wasn't painful at all. I didn't even notice any blood when my hymen broke - maybe it was already broke from my horse riding, I don't know. But anyways, you've just got to make sure you're calm and relaxed. Lots of foreplay should ease any discomfort, or use lubrication if you want to make sure that it just slides right up there without any problems. If he loves you, he'll take things slow, so again, lots of foreplay! Just try and relax because sex is not supposed to be awkward - once you get going everything will settle down and hopefully you'll have the time of your life! Good luck :]

reader, anonymous, writes (10 March 2008): Even if that's not how you want you first time to be it's gonna hurt a bit. Its hard to explain it, i wouldn't call it pain as such. It's just uncomfortable.I was the same but it wasn't as bad as i was imagining, take it slow and gentle at first, i found after a few minutes it was fine and didnt hurt at all.
