reader, anonymous, writes (5 May 2007): You have to be real strong, very dignified and just leave it be, dear. If friendship is all he can offer you at this time..then please accept it, graciously and move forward with your life. If by chance he changes his mind, in the future and you are available, the relationship he's in, then go for it. Now is not the time and if you come on too strong, he may back out of your life for good. Guys tenn to get real skitterish about this kind of stuff. He told you he wants to be single, hun. But don't sit around pining away for him and waiting for him. The classiest thing you can do right now is step aside and respect what his wishes and his life. If this guy really has no desire to have a romantic relationship with you, the best advice I could give you is to move on, if you hang on to your feelings for him, everytime you are around him or you see him with another female, it will just cause further pain for you. Take time to do things that you like to do-hobbies, interests, making new friends, etc. Go make a fresh start for yourself. Be happy and live life to the fullest.
