Some really strong relationships stem from being really good mates first.
Test the water with this guy, i suggest you adopt some light flirting techniques to get it over how you feel. Try to catch his eye and hold eye contact with him, then smile and look away.
Always find an excuse to touch him, be interested in what he does, or is doing. And laugh at what he says, even if its not that funny. You will know if the flirting is being reciprocated or not, if it is you can take it to the next level.
Don't think you are not pretty, if people say you are then you are, listen to them and believe it.
